This Email Made My Day

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Just as I was sick, grumpy and exhausted, I received this email from Lyn & Terence whose wedding we photographed in Perth last May. They really put a smile on my face. They reminded me of the many clients that had become good friends of ours, and that all our hard work, attention to details, and meticulous photo finishing do make a difference. It is sooooooooo nice when people notice our effort. Thanks Lyn & Terence.

Hi Louis & Jasmine,

Hope the both of you are well and had a great Christmas. Trust that everything is in place for LPS as the team gears up for year 2009 =)

We just wanted to thank both of you and your team for doing an excellent job with our pre-wedding and wedding shoot. You guys made it easy in terms of the shooting, the design of the book and even the minor details of the whole process despite us being overseas.

Looking back, every dollar spend was worth it, as we can never ever turn back the clock to 3rd of May 2008. It brings much joy to know that we can always turn through the pages of the album to walk down the memory lane once again. Indeed, the shots that you took will last a lifetime and the album never fails to make us smile. So, continue blessing others with your talents.

A toast to wish LPS team the very best in 2009.

Warmest wishes,
Eu Lynn & Terence Yee

Crunch Time & Random Thoughts

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The LPS team has been unbelievably busy for the last 6 weeks. It was shoot after shoot after shoot after shoot. This week we are rushing out prints for the WPPI Awards of Excellence print competition. You won’t believe our luck. Faulty paper and some technical issues with our trusty Epson 4800 almost derailed our plans. Everyone moved into high gear.

Then I am down with flu, cold and fever. What started as a minor sore throat threatens to escalate to a full blown outbreak. It didn’t help that I had a crazy traveling schedule and still had to complete 3 shoots in 4 days. I had never planned to end 2008 in such hectic manner but last minute schedule change and bookings threw me off. I desperately need some time off.

I shouldn’t be complaining. Some people lost the jobs. Some lost their homes and their entire life savings in a landslide. A childhood friend passed away at the age of 27. Why should I bitch about some printer problems and overworking myself this couple of weeks?

I should be thankful for my wife for stuffing me with Chinese herbal tea & a whole slew of medication to wrest my deteriorating health, my colleagues who soldier on with the endless demands of the office, my clients for giving me the opportunity to create amazing images every week and my friends who always keep me firmly grounded.

I’m signing off this post with the last picture I took in the final shoot of 2008 taken 3 hours ago…

Volunteer Models Wanted

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I will be running “Shoot Like a Pro” workshops in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu on Jan 3 & 10 respectively. I will need at least two models for each of the workshops. I do not need professional models because I want to teach and demonstrate how I work with the regular Jane and the regular Joe.

There are the perks & requirements for the volunteering models:
1. Good looks…not a requirement but it does not hurt if you look great.
2. Experience…not important. I will coach you how to look gorgeous in front of the camera.
3. You will get: 5 copies of 8×12 prints from me.
4. You will gain invaluable lessons on working with a professional photographer.
5. You will get to take part in the workshop free of charge. (It costs RM650 per head)
6. You will be photographed free of charge by *AHEM* Malaysia’s most awarded wedding & portrait photographer.

If this sounds cool to you and you would like to be part of this great experience. Drop me an email info (at) louispang (dot) com with the following:

1. Name, email, phone contact
2. Two recent photos of yourself

Zarinah & Faz’s Wedding

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

I’ve been photographing weddings for 3 years and this is the first Malay wedding I had ever photographed! I certainly hope it won’t be my last. Here are the highlights from Zarinah & Faz’s wedding in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Sorry I had taken me soooooo long to put this up. The pictures and album had been ready for years but I’ve somehow forgotten to put them on the blog. Enjoy…

Merry Christmas!

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

The LPS team had a blast at our Christmas party. Jasmine and I had the entire office plus our trusted assistants over to our home for dinner and some fun. I am sorry we could not get our guys from KL and Penang to join the party as well. Perhaps next year?

We had several special guests at the party as well. Choon Ean (founder of Livewire Media), Hong Yi (intern) and Joshua (the latest addition to the LPS team). Choon Ean bought us Partini, a really fun board game. We were in knots playing it! We laughed ourselves to tears! And of course, Santa made a special appearance to the party as well. Those who had been a good boy or good girl gets present. I am happy to report that everyone got a present.

Our team worked so hard through out the year. As the leader, I am proud of the progress we’ve made and the team spirit that we share. Can you imagine that a year ago that the LPS team was only Jasmine and I? There is so much to be thankful and celebrate.

Our office is closed from 23-30 December for Christmas holidays. On behalf of the LPS team, I want to wish everyone a blessed and joyous Christmas.
