Workshop Pre-requisite

December 2nd, 2008 | Photography Tips, Seminars & Workshops

The last time “pre-requisite” rolled out of my tongue was during my days in university. Before signing up for a class, I had to make sure I had fulfilled all prior requirements so that I was qualified to be in the class.

We’ve been getting questions on pre-requisites for our workshops. We thought we should make things clear here so that everyone who is thinking about the same question get helped.

Shoot Like a Pro
difficulty level: intermediate
what you must know before attending the class:
- turning off auto ISO
- switching you camera to manual mode
- how to change your shutter speed & aperture, WB
- has some understanding on how changing shutter speed & aperture can change your exposure
(I recommend that you bring your camera operating manual because every model and make operates differently. I do not know how to operate every camera.)

From Ordinary to Extraordinary
difficulty level: intermediate-advance
what you must know before attending the class:
- some knowledge/experience in shooting in manual mode
- has good understanding on how changing shutter speed & aperture can change your exposure

The biggest pre-requisite is HUNGER. For both classes, you need to be thick face enough to try and ask questions. Yes, shooting in front of your peers and instructors can be frightening but walking away without learning is worst! You do not have to know everything to come, that’s why you are attending a workshop! I’ve been shooting for 7 years and I am not remotely close to knowing everything!
