Two Saturdays ago, my 3-year old Toyota died on the road side. The engine oil was completely drained and the engine stalled–a week after I sent it for its scheduled servicing at Toyota, Kota Kinabalu. I suspected the drain plug was not secured after the servicing. The vehicle was tolled back to Toyota at 1am.
When we reported this to Toyota the following working day, Jason, the service manager apologized immediately and loaned us another vehicle. He promised to investigate this thoroughly, inspect the engine and offer to replace a new engine if there is any major damage. Thankful there was no damage to the engine. Toyota replaced all the moving parts anyways. They even fixed the minor dents and scratches at their body shop. Jason personally delivered the loaner and later my car after the repairs. I do not suppose a busy man like him has to do that.
The serviced engine receives a one-year warranty, and the car will enjoy one free wash and polish service in my next service. I am impressed how they have every ground covered. They’ve anticipated my every need!
I’ve learned a lot from Jason & Toyota. None of us are flawless. The perfect system can be floored by human errors. It is how we deal with mistakes that matters. I am glad that Toyota took responsibility for their mistake. They apologize and made amends. I didn’t expect Jason to personally deliver the loaner and my vehicle to me, but he did it nonetheless which showed his seriousness in making things right. I am speechless.
Had I serviced my car at a third party workshop, and they made the same mistake, do you think I would have received the same treatment and help? New parts? 1-year extended warranty? I doubt it. Thank you Toyota. I’ve learned so much about customer service from you. You’ve turned a negative situation into a positive experience. BRAVO!
