WedShooter.TV

WedShooter.TV is LIVE now. We are stoked with the number of subscriptions coming in. Thanks for your love, support and feedback.

Our entire tech and communication team are monitoring the launch closely. I was glued to my chair and laptop, reading & writing tweets. Just wanna make sure everyone has a good time checking out the site. Unsurprisingly, we had a couple of teething issues. First of all, Internet Explorer (both in XP & Vista) has playback issues with our site. So we recommend that you use Firefox, Safari or Chrome for optimum viewing experience. Engineers at Integricity who built our website are working hard to resolve the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience & appreciate your understanding.

Secondly some viewers reported that “Shoot of The Month” video got stuck at 29 seconds. We are investigating the cause. Other than that, we have been receiving lots of encouragement and good reports. If you like what you’ve seen, please pass the URL to your friends.

And yes, please keep your comments coming. We want to know how we can serve your needs even better.

UPDATE 6:30pm, Oct 22: Issues in playing “Shoot of The Month” resolved.

WedShooter.TV Going LIVE Tomorrow!!!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Wedshooter.TV an online TV for wedding & portrait photographers will go LIVE tomorrow. After 12 months and over 100,000km of traveling, many terabytes of digital footage, countless hours of planning, meetings, sketching, coding, programming, editing, and filming, we are ready to unveil it to the world what this project is all about.

WedShooter.TV will go LIVE tomorrow noon (GMT +8:00).

What comes to your mind if you see a turtle on top of a wooden fence? You know that someone has helped it get up there. Likewise, nobody succeeds alone. We succeed because others have invested, coached, helped, developed, corrected, elevated & mentored us.

That is why I setup WedShooter.TV. I want to help others become better photographers. According to Alan McGinnis, “There is no more noble occupation in the world than to assist another human being.”

Blessings!

Penang, My Favourite Shooting Ground

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I have always loved photographing in Penang. There is a special charm about this little island. The old architecture, history, exotic hawker food, and the bunch of great friends I have here…we are always invited out for great food. Perhaps it is the combination of all these great characteristics that makes me look forward to coming to Penang.

Jasmine and I arrived on Friday morning. As soon as we touched down, we received a text message that transportation was being arranged for by a great old friend. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that our room had been upgraded to a suite room. It means I get complimentary WIFI and Jasmine gets to enjoy L’occitane products in the bathroom. That makes both of us very happy.

Today’s workshop was great fun. A couple of participants gave me a very gentle nudge about updating my blog. So here I am…three pictures shot less than 6 hours ago during the workshop.

Just a simple shot inside hall where we had our workshop. Ai Ying, who helped us in our previous workshop, returned to model for us again. Just a single light on softbox from right and reflector on left to soften the shadows.

Leonard, another model that returned for the second time. Again a single light snooted from left. Love how it illuminates both eyes…just enough on the left eye.

One of my personal favourite shots for 2009. Two units of SB800 on full cut CTB in the middle of the escalators. A SB800 on full cut CTO lights up Fionne. Everything triggered with Radiopoppers. Love these little radio triggers without which I couldn’t have created this shot.

See You at Nikon Show!

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Nikon Malaysia is organizing a huge event at Mid Valley MegaMall from Oct 14-18. I’ll be speaking on Oct 18, 7:30pm on “Let There Be Light: The Art of Strobing”. Very excited to share my latest work and experience working with remote flash. I’ll be showing some yet-to-be released images and walk you through my execution and thought process in creating the shots.

Rumours have it that D3s would be on display. Well, your guess is as good as mine. Jimin Lai is talking about Photojournalism & Kelvin Chan speaks on American Landscape. There’s free sensor cleaning facility as well. Hope to meet some of you cool people there. Cheers!

See You at WPPI 2010!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I attended my first WPPI annual convention in 2007. As a rookie wedding photographer, I was truly inspired in the sessions by Yervant & Joe Buissink. Inspiration is a powerful thing – it’s like those little sparks that create raging fires.

I got inspired, and was I on fire! Within three and a half years I have photographed in 14 countries across 4 continents, winning 6 WPPI awards along the way. I have the privilege of imparting my experience and skills through workshops and seminars in six different countries… and I am within days of launching WedShooter.TV, the first education portal produced in Asia for wedding photographers worldwide.

So when I got an email from WPPI that I was confirmed as one of their speakers at WPPI 2010, I almost fell off my chair! I was jumping up and down, hugging my wife and ended up messing up her hair & make up. To speak on the 30th anniversary of this amazing international body makes it even more exciting.

Opening the September issue of the Rangefinder Magazine (published by WPPI), I see my name next to the likes of Marcus Bell, Jerry Ghionis, Jim Garner, Yervant and a line up of illustrious photographers from all over the world. This is just so unbelievable. I pinched and double pinched myself. This is really happening! This is also very humbling experience for me. Who would have thought that, as a rookie wedding photographer in 2007, I would be doing these things? Certainly not me!

This is my hope: just as Joe and Yervant sowed the seeds of confidence, vision and imagination in me in 2007, I want to do the same to everyone attending my platform class in March 2010 at Las Vegas. I am truly blessed… and I want to bless others. If you are heading to WPPI 2010, I’ll see you then!
