Turning 37
November 20th, 2009 | PersonalWhen I was a kid, I looked forward to my birthdays because of the presents I expected to receive. While I am still happy to get presents, I spend far more time reflecting on how I’ve spent the last one year. Birthdays are like giant road signs that remind me to take stock of my life. Growing old is automatic; growing up is optional.
So I spend a fair bit of time thinking about my failures and successes. The many key decisions that I made, did I call the right shots? Did I grow as a person? Am I happy? And do I bring happiness to people around me?
There are more responsibilities on my shoulder. The monthly programming of WedShooter.TV, maintaining two blogs, teaching regularly and finding new inspirations for each shoot puts more demand on my time. From a husband-and-wife team of two we have grown to a team of 5 full-time staff. So now, I am responsible for our clients, five employees and all our subscribers from around the world. More than ever, foresight, good leadership and focus are required to captain the ships of Louis Pang Studio and WedShooter.TV. I am really excited with what we are and will be doing. Thank you very much for all the birthday wishes.
Spent this year’s birthday in Perth as Jasmine and I ran a workshop and took care of 4 shoots. Here are sneak peeks from the shoots in Perth…

Happy birthday Louis,
For our first meet in KK (which almost did not happen) to the Shoot Like a Pro workshop in Brunei, it all seemed like just yesterday. It’s true .. time flies when you’re having fun and I had a lot of fun in KK as well as during my short stay at the workshop (results of my citizenship exam is almost here and praying for a positive outcome!) Only when we reflect do we make sense of our accomplishments and failures. You’ve come a long way from your humble town in Tawau and made a name that not only reflects human capacity and potential but also fly your country’s flag with pride. Well done.
PERTH … how I want to return to what has been dubbed “The World’s Most Isolated City.” I lived in Perth for 4 years as a student. If college life was anything to go by, you could say I grew up there having made friends from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Italy, Thailand including Brunei and of course Australia. This was all pre Facebook times but the concept of internationalization already existed for me way before that.
I figured since you were working, you may not have seen much of the rest of Perth. Here are some pictures from my trip in 2007:

Take care!

Louis,
Age is just a number, and with age comes wrinkle but attaining wisdom is optional as well
