In Front of the Camera: Jason
July 2nd, 2012 | PortraitsWe are starting a series of posts to feature people who stood in front of our cameras. They will share their experience of being photographed by us. It’s always something we want to find out. What was going through their minds when the camera is pointed their direction? Read on…
During the recent Property Investment & Home Expo 2012 in 1Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, a team of young & energetic people occupied the booth next to ours. They had red shirts, red balloons and red everything set up in the middle of the exhibition hall. Kids went nuts for their helium-filled balloons (frankly, so did we).
They were from the Malaysian property portal, www.propertyguru.com.my. Right in the midst of balloon-strapped kids and property-hunting parents was Property Guru’s Head of Marketing, Mr. Jason Thoe (“it’s Toe, spelt with an “H”).
Interesting story about Jason & Louis Pang Photography – Jason called us three years ago when he was getting married, asking if we could be the photographer for his wedding. Well, back then, we couldn’t so fast forward to 2012 and here we are together again. This time, we not only took Jason’s portrait but that of his whole team too.
Why did you sign up for the executive shoot with Louis Pang Photography during PIHeX 2012?
I thought to myself, how often do you get to have your portrait taken by Louis Pang???!
After the shoot, I called my wife immediately & told her that I finally met Louis Pang and that Louis took MY portrait. (laugh)
Do you have any prior experience being photographed? If you do, can you tell me about it?
Yes, I have had my photos taken professionally before. But those experiences are quite daunting, a bit scary initially. And not the most natural ones either.
Do you have any concerns about having your picture taken?
I’m usually apprehensive because I’m quite a shy person. Unless I know the photographer.
When you stepped onto the set with Louis, what was going through your mind?
“Oh my! I’m getting my portrait done by Louis Pang!” (laughs) I had a lot of questions running through my mind then but Louis made it comfortable for me. He talked and we chit-chatted throughout the session.
I had fun! at the shoot. I really like that group portrait of us.
